What is Liposuction?
If you have tried exercise and diet but still have not reached a satisfying result, you may need to consider surgical procedures like liposuction. Liposuction in Iran is a cosmetic procedure to remove unwanted fat and reshape the limb. This process usually is done on the hips, belly, thighs, back, buttocks, arms, and chin to improve their appearance. Liposuction can be done with other plastic surgeries like tummy tucks, breast reduction, facelift, etc.
Who is a Good Candidate?
Just like any other surgery, liposuction may have some risks. Therefore, you need to be in good health before undergoing it. You need to be at 30% of your ideal weight, have elastic skin, and also not smoke. You are not recommended to do liposuction if you have problems with blood flow, heart disease, diabetes, or you have a weak immune system. Before proceeding with this treatment, you should consult with your surgeon and talk about the benefits and risks of this method. If you finalize your decision about undergoing this surgery, your doctor will instruct you on how to get prepared for the procedure. You may have restrictions on diet and alcohol.
What Are the Risks?
Just like other surgeries, liposuction can have some risks. Below, the possible complications of this process are named.
Bleeding
Anesthesia complications
Fluid accumulation under the skin
Infections
Fat embolism
Uneven fat removal
Numbness
Reactions to lidocaine
Kidney and heart problems
Blood clot
If the surgeon is working on a larger surface of your body, the risk of complications increases. You should talk to your surgeon about the risks and the proper ways to minimize them.
How is Liposuction done on the Stomach?
Stomach liposuction dissolves the fat cells from the abdomen area and takes them out from under the skin. The result of this procedure is permanent unless the patient continues the old lifestyle and gains weight again. Stomach liposuction can remove about 70% of the stored fat cells in the abdomen area. This procedure is usually done under general anesthesia, although some surgeons may prefer local anesthesia. During the process, a surgical team will monitor your heart rate, blood pressure, and level of blood oxygen. The procedure may take some hours depending on the extent of fat removal. Before starting, the surgeon often marks the areas that need to be treated. Even some photos may be taken to compare before and after results later. To do liposuction procedure, there are different techniques available and your surgeon selects one depending on your treatment goals and your past experience. Tumescent liposuction, Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL), Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL), Power-assisted liposuction (PAL), and Compressed air liposuction (lipomatic) are different types of liposuction. Once the patient is ready, the surgeon makes small incisions around the fat deposits. For achieving the best contour, the surgeon may approach the area in different directions. A thin tube or “cannula” will be inserted under the skin and moves back and forth in order to loosen the fat cells. The tumescent fluid is injected under the skin of the treatment area to dissolve the fat cells. After the solution affected the fat cells, the surgeon uses a vacuum to suction the fat cells out of the skin. Small drainage tubes may be inserted into the treated areas to get the extra blood and fluid out of the body in the first few days. After the process, you need to spend at least a few hours in the hospital or clinic to be under the monitoring of the recovery team. You may need to stay overnight to ensure you are not dehydrated or shocked due to fluid loss. If you lose a lot of fluid and blood during the surgery, you may need intravenous fluid replacement and in very rare cases a blood transfusion. Your surgeon will instruct you to wear a compression garment for a while to prevent fluid accumulation and swelling.
How Long Is Recovery?
You may not need to stay in the hospital depending on the area of treatment. However, you should expect bruising, swelling, and soreness for a few weeks. To control swelling, you may be required to wear a compression garment for 1 to 2 months. You probably need to take antibiotics to prevent infection. Your doctor may also prescribe some pills to control the pain. After the procedure, your doctor may leave the incisions open to put temporary drains inside them in order to increase fluid drainage. During the recovery time, you should expect some irregularities in your body contours while the remaining fat settles in the right position under the skin. Although each person’s healing process could vary from the others, most people can go back to work in a few days and they can start normal activities within 2 weeks.
Can I get Six-pack Abs by Stomach Liposuction?
Liposuction removes fat cells accumulated in the abdomen area, but the Abs are made through both liposuction and the gym. You have probably seen people with a flat stomach but they do not necessarily have what we call a six-pack. You should not expect well-defined strong abs from liposuction without body training and hard exercise. Therefore, although you may receive a flat stomach, no one can get six-pack abs without having specific training at the gym.
Are the Results Permanent?
The fat cells are permanently removed during liposuction. Nevertheless, your body can produce fat cells again if you do not follow a healthy diet. If you gain weight, the fat deposits reappear, although they may show up on other body areas. To keep your new body contour after the surgery, you should follow a diet including lean protein, fruit and vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy. In addition, plan to have regular exercise to prevent fat accumulation.
